Ornate Carved Coffee Table

Right now I'm just a little depressed. I see everyone decorating and getting ready for fall. Fall is my favorite season- the crisp air, the smell, the leaves... what's not to love? Here in Vegas we're having some record high temps; we're talking in the high 90's. I'm afraid I can't bring myself to break out the fall decor and get into the spirit. How I long for the cool falls, the boots and sweaters.

My husband came up with the brilliant idea for us to go up to the mountains about 30 minutes away and camp for the weekend. Just what I need, I cheap get away with some cooler temps. No fall leaves, but I'll settle for some greenery and pine trees.

Anyways, enough of my pity party and on to the good stuff. I came across this awesome table on Craigslist. Totally my style- over the top, elaborate, and ornate. I don't know why I'm drawn to this style, my home is very simple and country chic. I guess it's what I picture my home of the future to be like. My home is way too small for this kind of over-the-top table. It's a good thing or I'd have to keep all my fancy stuff :)

It was a very classic cream and gold, but that fake gold color hurts my eyes and I had to change it. The lady who sold it would probably very sad to hear I painted it.  I chose a classic Paris Grey and Old White. I dark waxed it with some black shoe polish and clear wax to bring out the carving. To me this coffee table screams furniture at its finest.

  1. Umm.. That's the coolest coffee table evah! I think it would make a fabulous bench too.. Just sayin'! It looks beautiful... I'm sorry about you not being able to enjoy fall... Not to rub it in or anything, but is in the 50's here and fall is most certainly in the air! Enjoy the mountains! - Susan
