Ode to Summer

I was at Lowes one day picking up some items for my shop and ran across their new samples paint section, sporting all the new summer colors. I fell in love with this coral color. It's so yummy, it's one of those colors I just want to wear on my body. What does every beautiful coral color need? A gold accesory. I think the hardware on this dresser is the whole reason I was drawn to refinishing it.

I'm usually an A.S.C.P girl myself, but the color selection sometimes doesn't have what I need. I used latex paint for this armoire. I had custom painted this armoire previously but my client fell through. Since, it had been painted before it was back to good old sanding, priming, and painting. I think it looks awesome and was well worth the extra effort of latex paint.

  4. I'm here from FFF. You totally rocked that cabinet. I had the same experience this week - I usually use ASCP but like you had a different color in mind so I used Latex. I can't wait to see what Marian's Milk Paint looks like!

  9. I love that color too ... seems to be a very popular comment so since we all love it so much should be easy to find a new home.

Amazing how the piece transformed from feeling heavy and old in the before to fun, spirited and much younger. Note to self, where coral from head to toe and see if it works the same magic for me!

  10. I'm a latex paint girl, because I'm not into a shabby chic look. Sometimes I wish I were, because I hear chalk paint is so simple to use! Anyway, I love how you made this heavy old armoire look so fresh and funky. You're right -- the coral/gold combo is perfect.
